WORLD FOOD PRIZE: USER EXPERIENCE / WEB REDESIGN
This project was part of Design/Shift – an annual 1-day event in the College of Design at Iowa State University dedicated to serving local nonprofits with design needs and part of a larger initiative to foster innovation, leadership, and service in students.

I'm clearly biased, but I think I was part of the best group! Professor Aaron Yang mentored my group as we were tasked with redesigning the website for The World Food Prize – “the Nobel Prize of agriculture,” as it was described to us. Such a prestigious organization deserves the best of the best in web design.
Their original website was disorganized with too many pages and inconsistent links, and important information was difficult to find. We primarily worked in Figma, and started by reviewing the information architecture to identify key problems and inconsistencies. We then took the inspiration shared by our World Food Prize rep and used it to ideate possible improvements to the site. Next, we divided up tasks and got to work sketching wireframes.
I was assigned the donation page – originally the donation link went to another page, which had another link that led to an external site. I wanted to create a pop-up window instead that ideally would embed the external payment system. A simplified design would make it much easier for donors to navigate and support the organization.
Overall I’m so impressed with our group and what we were able to accomplish in just 8 hours. I was excited to get to work with professor Yang as well, as his UX class has been competitive to get into! 😉 I’m eager to see if World Food Prize implements our designs and how their online visibility improves. I’m even more eager to attend Design/Shift 2026!
